The speed-dial function in Skype facilitates dialing your Skype contacts from a regular phone that is connected to your Phone Adaptor. The speed-dial function was disabled in Skype version 4.0. Skype is working to re-enable the speed dial feature in a future release, but as of the writing of this answer, Skype has not committed to a release date or version number.
