WARNING: Before proceeding, be sure to take screen shots of or back up your modem's configuration using the Backup/Restore Confguration feature on the Advance Setup page. You will need to restore your modem's configuration as hard resetting the modem will revert it back to its factory default settings.
For X6 Model 5590CF only:
You have a "CF" model version if the ETHERNET ports on the modem's back panel are color-coded yellow.
- Using a straightened paperclip or something similar, press the RESET button (located on the back panel) 7 times, once per second. If you have done this successfully, the POWER light on the front panel will turn red each time you press the RESET button.
- After about 10 seconds after the 7th press, the POWER light will turn red and then back to green. Or, if you are looking at the back of the modem, the lights above any connected Ethernet cable will go off briefly after the 7th press.
- The rest of the lights on the front panel label will turn off. Please wait until the DSL light starts to blink again.
- All settings stored in the modem have been reset to factory default. Now you can restore your modem's configuration.
For X6 Model 5590, 5590AF, or 5590BF:
You have an original, "AF," or "BF" model version of the LAN ports on the modem's back are NOT color-coded yellow.
- Using a straightened paperclip or something similar, press the RESET button (located on the back panel) several times fast until the STATUS light on the front panel turns red briefly.
