To install the modem on your Windows 7 computer, you will need to follow the instructions below
- Turn on your Windows 7 machine
- Connect the Zoom USB 56k V.92 model 3095 modem into an available USB slot located on the computer.Now that you have the USB modem connected to the computer, open the CD/DVD drive and insert the Installation CD that was supplied with the modem.
- You will receive a prompt asking how you want to run the disc. You want to select Run Setup.exe. This will bring up a menu with language selection. You want to select your language to continue. When the language is selected, you will be directed to the Main Menu
- On the Main Menu click the "Modem Installation open"
- The next screen will supply a list of available drivers on the disc. In this case, you want to select USB Drivers. This will begin the installation of the drivers.
- Follow the on screen prompts, clicking next until you get to the last screen. You will be asked if you want to continue onto the Installation of Netwaiting. You want to continue.
- Netwaiting is an optional program that doesn't need to be installed. It allows you to get caller ID prompts on the computer while online. If this sounds like something you would like to use, you will go ahead and follow the prompts until you get to finish. Otherwise, click cancel and then finish.
- You will now need to verify the installation of the modem. Click the Start button on the bottom left of the screen and locate the "Search for Programs" text box. In this box type the word "Phone" and then click the option for Phone and Modem.
- You may be prompted for dialing rules. If this is the case, you will need to enter you Area Code then click OK.
- Click on the Modems tab. Listed should be the USB modem and it should be attached to a COM port. If this is the case, you can go onto the next step. If not, you will most likely need to start from step 1 again.
- Highlight the USB modem and click Properties then the Diagnostics tab. Locate the Query Modem button and click. You will get a large list of responses. The most important response is ATI3. If the response is CX93001 or similar, your modem is installed and ready for use.
