On the root hub (the PC's built-in USB ports), try plugging the camera into a different port. If you are using a secondary or self-powered hub, plug the hub into a different port on the root hub. Otherwise, uninstall any other USB devices and reinstall the camera. When uninstalling the camera, also remove anything (especially a "USB composite device") listed under the "Other devices" category in Control Panel | System - Hardware - Device Manager.
If the camera is installed properly, a category called "Imaging devices" with the camera listed under it will appear in Device Manager.
