This modem installs at COM5, I have some communications software that I *NEED* to use that only recognizes COM1 or COM2. Is there a way to change the COM port setting?

Model 3000's COM port settng can only be changed in the Registry. The steps below apply to Windows 95/98/ME.

CAUTION: You must be very careful when using the Registry Editor. It is very important that you modify ONLY the entry listed below or else you could cause serious problems with your system!

1. Go to Start | Run... and issue the command regedit.

2. In the resulting Registry Editor, go into HKEY LOCALMACHINE / ENUM / PCMCIA / LT_MODEM-PC_CARD.

3. Double-click 0.

4. At the bottom of the right-hand column, double-click PORTNAME.

5. In the resulting window, change "Value Data" from the highlighted COMx (e.g., COM4) to your desired COM port setting.
