You will need to go into the Registry Editor to change the COMport setting of the modem.
CAUTION: You must be very careful when using the Registry Editor. It is very important that you modify ONLY the file listed below or else you could cause serious problems with your system.
Go to Start -> Run, blank out this field and type REGEDIT, then click on OK. This will bring up the Registry Editor. Click on +HKEY LOCALMACHINE, +ENUM, +PCI and then click on the +VEN_11C1&DEV_xxxxxxx. This should drop down with a BUS folder. Highlight the BUS_00&DEVxxxx folder. On the right-hand column at the bottom will be PORTNAME; right-click it and it should bring up a pop-menu. Click on "Modify" and a box will come up with "Value Name" and "Value Data". Just click on COMx and change the number "x" to whatever comport number you want (as long as that comport is NOT already in use by a physical serial port or another internal modem). Click OK and exit the Registry Editor.
