Intermittent connections are usually caused by interference, especially from devices that are sharing the line with your DSL service. Make sure a DSL filter is installed on every telephone, caller ID box, fax machine, etc. Do not, however, place a filter between the wall jack and the modem.
Also check that the RJ-11 phone cord that connects the modem to the wall jack is plugged in tightly and not damaged. If the phone cord is excessively long, try replacing it with a shorter one.
If the Internet connection is still being interrupted, there may be interference from televisions, cordless telephones, halogen lights or other electronics or devices that emit radio frequencies. If possible, try placing the modem away from such devices.
