To configure your new Zoom ADSL Modem for SBC as your Provider you will need to enter the Zoom Web Console to configure the modem's VCI, VPI, and Encapsulation settings specific to SBC. To enter the Zoom Web Console click on the Zoom Web Console Icon on your Desktop or open a browser window and type the address of the Zoom modem (10.0.0.2).
SBC uses several different settings depending on where you are located:
VPI |
VCI |
Encapsulation |
0 |
35 |
PPPoE LLCSNAP (RFC 2516) |
8 |
35 |
Bridged IP over ATM LLCSNAP (RFC 1483) |
0 |
35 |
Bridged IP over ATM LLCSNAP (RFC 1483) |
Note: You may need to try each setting until you find the one for your area.
In this example we will use the most common setting for SBC:
- VPI = 0
- VCI = 35
- Encapsulation = PPPOE (LLC)
- In the User Name field, type your Member ID exactly as you registered it. For example, if your email address ends in “@sbcglobal.net,” then you should enter your Member ID with the “@sbcglobal.net” appended
- Enter your password in the Password field provided
- Click SAVE SETTINGS
- Click WRITE AND REBOOT
- Click CONFIRM
After several seconds the modem will reboot and the link LED will go solid. Click on "System Status" in the Web Console. You will receive an SBC Specific IP address located under the WAN Status section of this page. This means you are now connected with SBC.
You should now be online...
