AOL in the US is referred to as "AOL Broadband Powered by (?)" (Bellsouth, SBC, Verizon, etc....)
If you have, for example, "AOL Broadband Powered by SBC", you will need to enter the Zoom Web Console to configure the modem's VCI, VPI, and Encapsulation settings specific to SBC.
In this example for SBC:
-
VPI = 0
- VCI = 35
- Encapsulation = PPPOE (LLC)
- Enter your AOL Screen-name as "screen-name@aol.com" for your username
- Then enter your AOL password in the Zoom Web Console.
- Click SAVE SETTINGS
- Click WRITE AND REBOOT
- Click CONFIRM
After several seconds the modem will reboot and the link LED will go solid. Click on "System Status" in the Web Console. You will receive a 172.x.x.x IP address located under the WAN Status section of this page. This means you are now on the AOL internal network. The AOL software must then be set to Broadband connection (TCP/IP), not Dialup. Finally, enter your AOL username (without the AOL domain) and password in the AOL sign-on screen and you are done.
You should now be online...
PLEASE NOTE: The instructions above are specific to "AOL Broadband Powered by SBC" only.
