You can determine if your modem has a Lucent chipset or a Rockwell chipset by the serial number of your modem. An "L" in your modem's serial number indicates that you have a Lucent chipset. The absence of an "L" indicates that you have a Rockwell chipset. The modem's serial number is located on the bottom of external models under the barcode and on the back bracket of internal modems (near the phone jacks).
"n" is any integer from 0-9 in the following examples:
nnnn-Z2949-nn-nnL-nnnn uses a Lucent chipset.
nnnn-Z2949-nn-nn-nnnn uses a Rockwell chipset.
These chipsets differ in manufacturer only and offer the same functionality. Please note the presence or absence of an "L" in the below model #'s when selecting files for your modem. Files listed on this page for use with our Rockwell chipset products will not work with our Lucent chipset products.
Program Files
Modem Utilities Disk (.exe file) for our Rockwell chipset, K56flex and V.90, Dualmode external faxmodems. Disk includes INF files for use with Windows 95/98/ME/NT. This is a self-extracting file.
Windows 2000 INF files (.exe file) for ZOOM/Rockwell K56Flex/V.90 ISA, External and PCMCIA (PC Card) modem models. This is a self-extracting file.
Flash Files
All TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) programs such as screen savers and anti-virus programs including any communications programs that could interfere with the flash process must be temporarily disabled before running this flash file. If the flash process is disrupted in any way, it could cause damage to the modem and necessitate the modem to be sent in for repair.
Flash Update for Model 2849, 2849A, 2848, 2848A, 2836A, 2837A and 2838A:
V.90 Upgrade for Zoom External FaxModems

This self extracting file creates a flash upgrade program that runs on IBM compatible computers running Windows 95, 98 or 3.1 ONLY. A detailed readme.txt file and informative wizard are included.
NOTE: If you have upgraded from a 33.6k to a 56k modem (models 2836-xx-xxA, 2837-xx-xxA, 2838-xx-xxA), you must download and install the file called Xz1200d.exe BEFORE installing this v.90 upgrade.
